Croatian delegation at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) organized national debate about the „White Paper on the Future of Europe”, which was held on the 29th of May 2017 at the Croatian Chamber of Economy (CCE) in Zagreb. The event was opened by Dragica Martinović from the CCE and H.E. Branko Baričević, Head of the European Commission Representation in Croatia. The speakers at the first panel were the Croatian EESC members Toni Vidan from the Green Action, Vilim Ribić from MATICA – Association of Croatian Trade Unions and Dragica Martinović from the CCE. The second panel addressed the geopolitical, economic and socio-cultural aspects of scenarios for the future of the EU and Croatian membership in the Union. The panellists were Višnja Samardžija from IRMO, Boris Cota from the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb, Zvonimir Savić from the CCE and Davorko Vidović a CCE adviser. Following both panels, rich discussion unfolded between the speakers and representatives of the business community, trade unions, civil society and the academia in the auditorium.  Similar discussions on the White Paper will be held in all EU member states at the national level and the recommendations and comments resulting from these debates will be forwarded to the European Commission for consideration.
