IRMO Brief no. 1/2018, written by journalist and military analyst Jan Ivanjek, deals with issues of defence policy, the military-technical and political component of Croatia’s purchase of an advanced multirole combat aircraft which is supposed to replace the Soviet MiG-21 within the Croatian Air Force. The purchase of new military aircraft is a highly sensitive matter from both the financial and political point of view, which is why it has been postponed for years. The author analyzes received offers pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of choosing different (American, Greek, Israeli and Swedish) package.
