In the House of Olives in Stari Bar, Montenegro, from 28 to 31 March 2026, organized by the Cluster Center for Tourism Development, tourism stakeholders, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the international community, successful entrepreneurs, representatives of the state administration and the private sector gathered at the beginning of the implementation of the project „Improving the Sustainable Tourism Development in Montenegro“. Among others, the opening ceremony was attended by Željka Miličević Krivokapić, President and Chief Manager of the Cluster Center for Tourism Development and the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in Montenegro, Veselko Grubišić, who emphasized the importance of Croatian participation in this project.
This project is jointly implemented by the aforementioned Cluster and the Institute for Development and International Relations, IRMO, from Zagreb, Croatia with the leader, Damir Demonja, Ph.D., Scientific advisor with tenure. The importance of this project lies in connecting the community, genuine opportunities in tourism, the importance of preserving the environment, but also authentic local products and experiences. The aim of the project is to support the development of sustainable tourism in Montenegro through the analysis of the current situation, the creation of quality standards and the building of the capacity of service providers. The project will include: analysis of the current state of sustainable tourism in Montenegro, creation of a database and directory of stakeholders in the sector, establishment of sustainable tourism standards that are aligned with EU practices, and organization of training and workshops for tourism service providers. The ultimate goal of the project is how to make the potential of Montenegro visible, connected and sustainable.
