The Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO) has become a participating institution in the national eKultura system, joining a network of organizations that enhance the accessibility of cultural and scientific resources through digitalisation.

The eKultura – Digitalisation of Cultural Heritage project is a strategic initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014–2020. The project’s goal is to increase the availability and protection of digital cultural content through a centralized information system.

The main objectives of the eKultura system include:

  • ensuring the secure storage of digital cultural content,
  • enabling easy access to cultural collections via a shared digital platform,
  • encouraging the digitalisation of cultural heritage while adhering to international standards,
  • ensuring interoperability between different institutions, facilitating data exchange and the long-term sustainability of digital content.

The eKultura system ensures interoperability with Europeana, the European digital library, making Croatian digitalised cultural heritage available to a broader European audience. With the establishment of a national aggregator, the number of records from Croatia on Europeana has increased 25-fold, significantly enhancing the visibility and international presence of Croatian cultural content.

Through its library, IRMO holds valuable publications and research materials in the fields of cultural policies, international relations, and sustainable development. By becoming a participating institution in the eKultura system, IRMO contributes to the greater visibility and accessibility of these resources, ensuring their availability not only at the national level but also in the international context.
