From July 16 to 20, 2025, Dr. Aleksandra Uzelac and Dr. Dea Vidović, researchers on the CULTMED project, have visited Šibenik to conduct a part of the qualitative research for the project “Study/Analysis of the Socio-Economic Impact of Fortress of Culture Šibenik (TKŠ) for the Period 2014–2024 and the Integrated Strategic Management Plan of the Institution Until 2030”.
This field research involved meetings with representatives of the public institution Fortress of Culture Šibenik (TKŠ), semi-structured interviews with relevant stakeholders, visits to all sites managed by TKŠ in Šibenik and on the island of Zlarin, as well as attendance at several artistic programs held at the fortresses managed by TKŠ.
Given that the Fortress of Culture Šibenik plays an important role in the local cultural development of Šibenik and the Šibenik-Knin County – and is recognised as a good practice model of sustainable cultural heritage management in Croatia and beyond – the research was guided by a methodological framework that reflects its socio-economic impact in the past ten years. Through a participatory process, the research also establishes guidelines for the institution’s long-term positioning within the cultural, social, and economic context of local and regional development. The Study and Strategic Plan aims to support the further advancement of sustainable approaches to cultural heritage management by TKŠ and to strengthen its visibility and recognition at both the national and international levels.
