IRMO researchers Danijela Hrman and Daniela Angelina Jelinčić published the article titled “Sustainable Museums in Croatia: Inclusion of People with Disabilities” in The International Journal of the Inclusive Museum, issued by Common Ground Research Networks.

The research analyses the extent to which museums in Croatia are prepared to provide an inclusive experience for visitors with disabilities, with a particular focus on information accessibility, infrastructure, services, and content interpretation. Additionally, it examines how this level of preparedness influences the long-term sustainability of museums. To achieve this, a quantitative approach was used, with an online survey distributed to Croatian museums that covered aspects such as visit planning, physical accessibility, and the overall museum experience.

The findings serve as a valuable indicator of the current state of the cultural sector and support policymakers and museum management in developing evidence-based strategies to create more inclusive and sustainable museum environments in Croatia. The study’s implications are evident in the development of a practical framework that can help museums evolve into accessible, open, and welcoming spaces, thereby contributing to greater social benefit.
