The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin hosted the annual Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue from March 18 to 19, 2025. Held regularly for the past 11 years, the BETD gathered around 2,000 participants from over 130 countries, including government delegations (at the ministerial level), as well as representatives from the business community, academia, and civil society. The focus of the conference was on financing the energy transition and strategies for increasing the use of renewable energy sources. It was opened by Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Economy Minister Robert Habeck.

The 11th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue featured a rich program, with accompanying events held throughout the entire week. Keynote speakers included Anshula Kant, Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of the World Bank; Barbara Rambousek, Director for Gender Equality and Economic Inclusion at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD); Helen Clarkson, CEO of the Climate Group; and Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). IRENA presented current data on the global expansion of renewable energy sources.

A tradition of the BETD is to present successful energy transition projects and highlight concrete approaches to addressing current challenges. This year, experiences from India were presented, along with the ways in which the African Development Bank supports climate and green growth. These topics were discussed in a panel that included Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, Indian entrepreneur Rashi Gupta, and Dr. Kevin Kariuki, Vice President for Energy, Climate, and Green Growth at the African Development Bank.

Participation in the BETD is strictly by personal invitation, which is non-transferable, and Dr. Ana-Maria Boromisa participated in the BETD.
