Lucija Gegić Stanić, research assistant and associate on the CULTMED project, participated in the 18th edition of the postgraduate seminar Feminisms in Transnational Perspective, held from 12 to 16 May at the Inter-University Centre in Dubrovnik.

This year’s seminar focused on the theme The Otherwise of History, exploring what historical thinking from a transnational and feminist perspective can offer to our understanding of the current political moment.

Lucija presented a paper titled “Sorry, I thought she was a person” – women’s bodies as public property. In it, she examined the phenomenon of touching statues of women in public spaces, addressing the broader issue of the perception of women’s bodies as public property.

The seminar featured a rich programme with distinguished speakers and panellists, as well as participants engaging with timely feminist topics from interdisciplinary and international perspectives. The programme and book of abstracts are available here.
