The Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO) organised the kick-off meeting of the project Night-Time Economy Strategies: Interregional approach to managing the night-time economy in the European Union – NITIES in Zagreb. The kick off meeting, held on 4–5 June and hosted by IRMO and the City of Zagreb brought together partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo), Estonia (Tallinn), Ireland (Galway), Italy (Friuli Venezia Region), Lithuania (Vilnius) and Poland (Warsaw).

In the opening session, IRMO presented the implementation plan for the project’s first semester, followed by a study visit to Močvara Club and Pogon, places that bring together artists, members of alternative culture and other creators and consumers of cultural content. After the study visit, a press conference was held to present the concept and goals of the NITIES project.

The following day, partners outlined policy instruments for night-time-economy development,  after which they visited Tvornica and the Vintage Industrial Bar clubs, where IRMO researchers introduced partners to Zagreb’s nightlife locations and the challenges facing the city’s night-time economy. This was followed by a moderated discussion on good practices, using Zagreb as a case study.
