The Pilot Test and Implementation of the Media Pluralism Monitor (MPM) 2015 project is funded by the European Commission and coordinated by the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom (CMPF), Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS), European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy. Based on the tool initially developed in 2009 and simplified in 2014, the 2015 MPM tool is further optimized and fine-tuned. The MPM 2015 develops a monitoring tool for assessing risks for media pluralism in the EU Member States and identifying risks to pluralism based on a set of indicators, covering pertinent legal, economic and socio-cultural considerations. It was implemented in 19 European Union countries, including Croatia. Members of the Croatian team (Paško Bilić, Antonija Petričušić, Ivan Balabanić) will present the background of the project, methodology for collecting data and assessing risks to media pluralism, as well as early results of the 2015 implementation and local issues. The meeting will be held at the Library of the Institute for Development and International Relations starting from 14:00 on 30 November. It will gather experts from the scientific community, regulators, non-governmental organizations and professional associations who have participated in the panel for the assessment of particularly sensitive issues for media pluralism.
