The November 2024 edition of the IRMO Brief, authored by Božo Kovačević, deals with the BRICS intergovernmental organization since its foundation in 2009, till this year’s summit held in the Russian city of Kazan in October 2024. The 16th BRICS summit in Kazan hosted representatives of 35 countries and 6 international organizations, including UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. Since its begging under the name BRIC, its activities were directed against the goals and methods of the West World, primarily of the G7 association. Brazil, Russia, India, and China were the founders of this organization, joined by South Africa just a year later, and then by Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates on January 1st 2024. BRICS countries warn of the unacceptability of attempts by the Western World or the Collective West, in the form of the G7 or NATO, to impose its will on the rest of world. The author also analyzes how relations between the leading members, China and Russia, and China and India, will shape the future development of this organization.
