Maja Hoić, librarian at IRMO and PhD candidate in Information Sciences, has joined the Open Science Monitoring Initiative (OSMI), an international initiative focused on monitoring and analyzing open science policies and practices.
OSMI was established in response to the growing need for systematic tracking of the implementation of open science on a global scale. It was launched with the support of key institutions in the field of scientific policy and research, including the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, Université de Lorraine, Inria, and UNESCO.
On December 4, 2024, OSMI held its first public meeting, attended by more than 100 participants. The OSMI Steering Committee presented the initiative, its objectives, the status of the Open Science Monitoring Principles, and the first working groups that will commence their activities in 2025. The recording and presentation of the meeting are available here.
OSMI currently has 51 members from various parts of the world. A detailed list of members can be found on the initiative’s official website: OSMI Members.
Maja Hoić from IRMO is currently the only member from Croatia in this initiative, which brings together experts from different institutions and research fields. OSMI’s goal is to monitor the implementation of open science and identify challenges and opportunities for its advancement.
More information about the initiative is available on its official website: Open Science Monitoring Initiative.
