The book chapter „Journalism in Croatia in the era of post-truth“ which is accessible in open access examines how journalists and key stakeholders in Croatia’s media sector perceive disinformation and post-truth politics, and how these challenges are shaped by Europeanisation processes. Drawing on secondary sources and interviews with journalists and professional associations, the authors explore everyday journalistic practices and the implementation of relevant European Union regulatory initiatives, including the Digital Services Act and the European Media Freedom Act.

The findings indicate that Croatian journalists recognise disinformation as a serious threat to democratic debate, media credibility and professional autonomy. At the same time, they face structural constraints, including economic insecurity, political pressure and the accelerated pace of news production. The authors conclude that the influence of the European Union is particularly evident in shaping a shared understanding of these challenges, professional standards and normative expectations, although this does not necessarily translate into uniform institutional outcomes.
