At the Institute of Economics, Zagreb, in cooperation with the Croatian Evaluation Society (HEVAL), the conference “The Contribution of Audit and Evaluation to Better Governance of Public Policies” took place on October 30, 2025. The event included a panel discussion in which Sanja Maleković participated on behalf of the IRMO team of experts in the field of public policy evaluation, as part of the activities of the project The Substance and Colors of Sustainable Development (BORE).
The conference was organized as part of a study visit program to Croatia within the project “Enhancing Monitoring and Evaluation Skills for Public and State Officials from North Macedonia”, which promotes the importance of monitoring and evaluation in the public sector as a foundation for transparency, accountability, evidence-based decision-making, and results-oriented management. The goal of this project is to raise awareness among civil servants about the importance of more effective use of evaluation in the implementation of public policies, strategies, programs, and budgets.
During the panel, Sanja Maleković presented IRMO projects related to the evaluation of strategic plans as a foundation for implementing public policies at the national and subnational levels of governance in Croatia. She reflected on the experience and learning process that took place within the team engaged in the BORE project, aiming to transfer specific phases, steps, and lessons learned to experts from the Macedonian Evaluation Network, who are only beginning the process of strategic planning and public policy evaluation in North Macedonia.
