Scientific Adviser at the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO), Dr Senada Šelo Šabić, took part in the conference “EUIdeas: The Power of Knowledge”, marking the 50th anniversary of the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, where she obtained her PhD in social and political sciences.
Held at the historic Badia Fiesolana campus, the event brought together researchers, policymakers, EU officials and the wider public to discuss how knowledge can renew Europe’s institutions, strengthen democracy and the rule of law, and shape responses to security, climate and societal challenges, as well as the future role of universities.
The EUI is dedicated to education and research that underpin the preservation and further development of the European Union, and since 2025 Croatia has been among the EUI member states sponsoring its nationals for postgraduate studies at this prestigious institution.
