The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Croatia organized on the 27th of February, 2026, at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb, a conference under the title “The Crime of Genocide: Prevention and Punishment” on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide.
IRMO representative Krševan Antun Dujmović moderated this conference, which marked the tragedy that happened on 26th February 1992 during the first Karabakh war between Azerbaijan and Armenia (1988-1994).
H. E. Mr. AnarImanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Croatia, addressed the conference at its beginning, followed by H.E. Mrs. Hayriye Nurdan Erpulat Altuntaş, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Republic of Croatia.
Introductory Presentation on Khojaly genocide was given by Dr. Fariz Ismailzade, Vice Rector, ADA University, and Member of National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, based in Baku, Azerbaijan (by video link).
During the second part of the conference a panel discussion was organized with the following speakers: Dr. Pavo Barišić, President of the International and Croatian Pan-European Union; Dr. Đana Luša, University of Zagreb, Faculty of Political Science and Mr. Denis Avdagić, Foreign Policy Analyst.
