Dr Ana Žuvela, a research associate at the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO), has published a single-authored original scientific article “Operationalising cultural democracy – the experience from a transitional society” in the renowned international journal Cultural Trends, one of the leading academic journals in the field of cultural policy.
The article analyses how the concept of cultural democracy is operationalised within Croatian cultural policy and how it can be implemented in practice in the context of transitional societies. Using an interdisciplinary approach that combines modernisation theory and cultural policy studies, the author examines the development and theoretical foundations of cultural democracy as a distinct paradigm of cultural governance. The article represents an important contribution to international debates on cultural democracy, new approaches to cultural governance, and the development of cultural policies in transitional and post-socialist societies.
