In the text titled Cultural Heritage in the Age of COVID-19 – Accelerated Shift towards Digital Barbara Lovrinić writes about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the heritage sector. She examines the available research and online activities of heritage institutions in the EU, as well as “digital” initiatives of the heritage institutions in Croatia. There has been a growing presence of digital cultural heritage across the EU, but the crisis has further accelerated the process of digitization in heritage institutions. Many initiatives, which were previously created to give the digitization process a boost, can actually be implemented faster. However, the question is how this will affect the future of the sector. The author also questions recent cultural policies in the EU and Croatia and their further impact on promoting digitalization and the creation of new services.
