IRMO researcher Ivana Keser, PhD from the Department for Resource Economics, Environmental Protection and Regional Development published a chapter entitled “Resilient Cities” in the book National Security of the Republic of Croatia in the 21st Century. The book was published by the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Zagreb, Jesenski & Turk Publishing, and the Institute for Security Policies. It contains ten chapters by relevant authors that indicate a number of global and regional challenges that affect the ability of Croatia and its citizens to develop in the expected direction and with the desired dynamics. The chapter analyses the concept of urban resilience, i.e., the ability of cities to maintain their functionality aimed at recovery and further development due to natural disasters, climate change, sudden threats, or any other disturbance. In conclusion, the chapter offers guidelines for the further development of cities with an aim to be resilient to the numerous challenges they are exposed to.
