The Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO) is pleased to welcome Valentina Vučković, PhD, who joins IRMO as a Scientific Advisor in the Department for International Economic and Political Relations. Valentina will also be part of the team working on the project “International Relations – Determinants of Resilient Sustainable Development” (MO4R), which is being implemented within the Department.

Before joining IRMO, Valentina worked at the Department of Economic Theory at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb, from 2014, where she was appointed Associate Professor in 2022. She received her PhD from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb, in 2014.

Her research interests include the political economy of reforms and institutions, competitiveness and entrepreneurship, corruption, and the green and digital transition, with a particular focus on the new EU member states and the Western Balkans. She publishes in international journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus and has authored book chapters published by Routledge and Palgrave Macmillan.

Throughout her career, she has participated in numerous national and international projects funded by the European Union, the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the World Bank, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Her extensive research and project experience will be a valuable contribution to IRMO’s work and will further strengthen the research and professional capacities of the Department for International Economic and Political Relations.
