In the article dr. Boromisa explores the impact of depopulation and aging on Croatia’s ability to adapt to climate change. She argues that Croatia, although a high-income EU country, is highly vulnerable to climate change and lacks resilience due to a shrinking and aging population. Her study identifies key sectors like tourism, construction, and healthcare, which are crucial for economic stability but already suffer labor shortages. Using climate data, demographic projections, and economic modeling, the paper highlights how human capital constraints – especially workforce decline – delay climate-resilient development. The findings emphasize the importance of tailoring climate policy to demographic realities and suggest broader relevance for similar countries facing aging populations and labor market challenges during the green transition. The research underscores the need for integrated policies that link climate resilience with demographic and socioeconomic planning.
