Šibenik, Croatia

2 – 5 May 2019

IRMO, as one of the co-organisers of the International interdisciplinary conference PROCEED WITH CARE invites all interested experts in the field of architecture, urban planning and spatial planning, protection of natural and cultural sites, cultural tourism, interpretation and presentation of heritage, museology, sociology, anthropology, cultural theories, communication science and economics, to attend the conference of the motivational title LIVING WITH TOURISM / TOURISM SURROUNDINGS. The conference will be held in Šibenik, Croatia from May 2-5, 2019.

The conference is an interdisciplinary platform to address the emerging conflict between ‘overtourism’ and the safeguarding of natural and cultural landscape, historic cities, monuments and sites, especially those listed as World Heritage. The aim is to engage, on a regular basis, academics, researchers and practitioners in the fields of architecture, urban and spatial planning, the protection of natural and cultural sites, cultural tourism, presentation and interpretation of heritage, museology, sociology, anthropology, cultural theories, communication science and economy.

The latest academic, scientific, and field research, strategies, techniques and tools will get the opportunity to be compared, challenged and revised, and then to be spread, as good practices for the benefit of both opposing aspects – the prosperity of local communities that are linked to tourism economy and the safeguarding of cultural tangible and intangible heritage.
