Daniela Angelina Jelinčić, PhD, has been selected for a Fulbright Visiting Research Award in the U.S. during the 2019-2020 academic year and will thus be joining 380,000 distinguished scholars, students and professionals worldwide who are leader sin the educational, political, economic, social and cultural lives of their countries. The letter of award states that Dr. Jeličić has „demonstrated the qualities of excellence and leadership that have been hallmarks of this program and made it one of the most respected activities of the U.S. Government for than 70 years“. Dr. Jelinčić will perform the research at the University of Georgia, Athens from August 2019 through April 2020 . The research topic is Sensory Stimuli and Their Impact on Basic Emotions in the Experience Economy. It is of an interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary type and entails cooperation with the local team of researchers primarily in the fields of visual arts, music, psychology and neurosciences. The purpose of the research is to gain greater understanding of the correlation between different visual, aural, olfactory, gustative and/or tactile stimuli and emotions they stir in order to be able to detect near-universal stimuli to be used in cultural tourism supply. The focus is on visual and aural stimuli and their relation to basic emotions (joy, sadness, fear, anger, disgust and/or surprise). Except for cultural tourism, the results are expected to have direct and/or indirect implications in the economy and business studies (marketing); museum studies (product creation, interpretation); cultural management; creative industries; visual arts; music; design; food industry; tourism; psychology; neuroscience; art therapy; medicine.
