IRMO Brief 4/2018 deals with the Nord Stream 2 pipeline that is envisaged to connect the Russian Federation and Germany across the Baltic.

The text authored by David Koranyi, expert at the US Atlantic Council think tank, analyses the arguments pro and contra the construction of the pipeline that has divided the member states of the European Union. The opponents of this project are primarily Poland and the Baltic States, while Germany seeks to finish this project aiming to become a major European energy hub.

The issue also analyses the American opposition to this project and estimates the global geopolitical challenges that could undermine the realization of the Nord Stream 2 project.
