A workshop titled “Understanding Artificial Intelligence Systems” was held on November 11–12, 2025, at the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel, as part of the 17th Conference on Sustainable Development, which was organized by the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development (HR PSOR).
The workshop was led by a team of experts from the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO) and the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb. The speakers included Sanja Tišma, PhD, Associate Professor, Senior Scientific Advisor (Permanent Title), and Head of the Department for Resource Economics at IRMO; Ivana Keser, PhD, Assistant Professor and Research Associate at IRMO; and Mihael Mišo Mudrić, PhD, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb.
The workshop provided participants with comprehensive insight into the basic concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the risks and challenges related to its use, and its application in real-world contexts. The detailed agenda covered the ethics and principles of AI usage, the legal framework and standards related to AI, as well as the crucial role of responsible persons in companies during AI implementation. Furthermore, the workshop specifically addressed high-risk AI systems, risk management systems, and associated privacy, usage, and security policies.
