IRMO Research Adviser, Sandro Knezović, PhD, and Expert Advisor Krševan Antun Dujmović, M.Sc., participated in the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum held in Bucharest from 12 to 13 May.

This is an international security and defense forum that brings together experts, diplomats, and institutional representatives from Europe and NATO member states. The Forum focuses on security challenges in the Black Sea and Balkan regions, particularly in the context of current geopolitical developments and the war in Ukraine.

Dr. Knezović took part as a speaker in the panel “The Strategic Triangle of the IMEC, Three Seas Initiative and Danube Corridor,” organised in partnership with the Institute for Development and International Relations. He spoke about the Three Seas Initiative from Croatia’s perspective, as well as the opportunities it offers for strengthening the EU’s strategic autonomy. He also addressed key challenges affecting the further development of the Initiative.

Krševan Antun Dujmović, M.Sc., participated as a speaker on the panel under the title Enlargement Meets Geopolitics: The Accession Process of Ukraine and Moldova and the Western Balkans Experience. The host organization of the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum, New Stategy Center from Bucharest, organized this panel in partnership with Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), Italy. Other speakers in the panel were: H.E. Mr. Igor GROSU, Speaker of the Parliament, Republic of Moldova; Mr. Matteo Bonomi, Senior Fellow, EU,

politics and institutions program, Instituto, Affari Internazionali (IAI), Italy; Mrs. Svitlana Kovalchuk, Executive Director, Yalta European Strategy, Ukraine; Mr. Aleksandar Pejović, Course Chair at the Institute of European Studies, University of Tirana, former Minister of European Affairs of Montenegro and Chief Negotiator, Montenegro.
