Hrvoje Butković, PhD, from the Department for European Policies, participated as a panelist at the forum “Migration and the labor market” held on December 19, 2024 at the Union’s headquarters in Zagreb. The forum was organized by the Independent Trade Union of Science and Higher Education. Introductory presentation was made by Dragan Bagić, PhD,from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, presenting the results of sociological research on the attitudes of Croatian citizens towards migration and foreign workers. As part of the panel discussion, Hrvoje Butković, PhD, emphasized that the legal framework for the employment of workers from third countries in Croatia is constantly being improved, and he commented on the latest amendments to the Aliens Act, which are about to be adopted. He emphasized that these changes bring significant improvements to the process of issuing work permits, which will be accelerated, and at the same time it will provide foreign workers with greater freedom in the management oftheir own careers.
