The Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO) has become a member of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC). The Steering Board of ESDC has accepted the membership application of IRMO, which became the first Croatian academic institution within the ESDC’s network.
Founded in 2005, the ESDC has been developing strategic-level education on Common Security and Defence Policy of the EU (CSDP), and providing knowledgeable personnel, within both EU Institutions and EU Member States. Currently, ESDC organises many educational programmes beyond the EU borders (Western Balkans, Eastern Partnership countries), aiming to further promote EU values and share best practices in security and defence. Furthermore, the ESDC aims to develop and promote a common understanding of CSDP among civilian and military personnel, complementing the national efforts in the field of training and education and contributing to the development of a common European security culture in the long run.
