Anastasya Raditya Ležaić analyses the European Union Emission Trading System (EU ETS) on the new publication of IRMO aktualno series. She writes about the role of ETS in fostering climate neutrality and competitive economy. The text previews the way ETS function through all of its phases, and how it would economically reduce greenhouse gas emission thus enable cost-effective emission reductions. The text also shows the ways of using the funds gained from the sale of the emission allowance in Croatia.

The author then analyses specifically Phase 4 of ETS for the period of 2021-2030 including all the changes it brings since EU climate goals became more ambitious. Finally, the preconditions for the functioning of the ETS are explored in order for it to achieve climate neutrality and competitive economy.

The publication is only available in Croatian language.
