Project gathers 56 academic institutions from the 31 European country and it is targeted at further developing the research and lecturing on parliamentary democracy in Europe. It is aimed at facilitating debate between researchers, students and policy makers about the challenges in front of the European parliaments and citizens. Five areas important for development of parliamentary democracy in Europe were identified: i) changes within parliamentary institutions, ii) role of parliamentary actors, iii) relationship between parliaments and citizens, iv) parliaments and the European public, v) parliamentary democracy and constitutional development. Mentioned areas are analysed in the broader context, paying particular attention to impacts of the economic crisis and development of multi-level democracy.
