The project of the preparation of a marine waste management plan included an in-depth analysis of regulations related to marine waste; data on marine waste was collected and analyzed (analysis of the origin, amount and type of waste, determination of the main vectors of intake and transfer of marine waste, analysis of available and tested approaches for its collection and management). Based on the collected data, analysis of international experiences and discussions with stakeholders, a proposal for a Marine Waste Management Plan for the Republic of Croatia was prepared.
The goal of the project is to create a proposal for a national marine waste management plan.
The expected effect of the project is to raise the level of awareness of the importance of reducing, or preventing the introduction of waste into the marine environment and waste management.
