The authors analyze the fencing off of the Porin asylum seeker reception center and the exclusion of refugee and minoritized children from online education in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic as examples of securitization policies. The authors conclude that the crisis management during the COVID-19 pandemic has deepened inequalities among racialized and ethnicized populations. The text is published as part of the publication “Crisis Governance, (De)Mobilisation and New Inequalities: The Legacy of COVID-19” produced within the framework of the ENDURE project funded through the TAP program and the Croatian Science Foundation.
