The EMERALD project will be implemented by 14 partners from 6 countries (Italy, Spain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, France). The project coordinator is foundation SOLETERRE from Milan. The goal of the project is to respond to the challenges of professional retraining of workers in the European Union for the adoption of digital and green business practices. Education and training programs for migrant workers will be prepared in the scope of the project.
Although the green and digital transition opens new opportunities for economic development through the creation of new jobs, a lack of specific knowledge and skills of employees that will ensure a timely transformation is expected. Since the appropriate training programs have been developed, the level of readiness of workers for training and retraining is low. Also, there are numerous obstacles that prevent migrant citizens from accessing existing training programs (for example, language, lack of information, etc.). These obstacles also affect the growth of social inequality in the European Union.
The project plans to establish a Laboratory for the improvement of skills in five countries (Italy, Spain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia) based on the model of public-private partnership and cooperation, and in France it is envisaged to implement educational content related to the green and digital transition intended for migrant citizens.
