The goal of the project is to promote academic excellence in the field of European studies and enhance research of the EU integration by focusing on the importance and implementation of the Lisbon Treaty. The project is coordinated by the University of Cologne (Prof. Wolfgang Wessels), and IMO participates as a partner in the consortium of a total of 66 institutions from 31 countries. There are four major areas of research: The EU’s Institutional Framework Post Lisbon; Economic and Financial Policy; The Area for Freedom, Security and Justice; EU External Action. The established network of cooperation will contribute to exchange experiences and good practice and should result in a possible new curriculum in the area of European higher education. The project lasts for 3 years and it started on October 1, 2010 while the main activities will be initiated in 2011. It includes three annual conferences in Brussels, a series of workshops and training for doctoral students.
