The February 2024 edition of the IRMO Brief, authored by Krševan Antun Dujmović, deals with the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine launched on 24th February 2022. In the first weeks of the invasion, Russian forces tried to capture the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and thus swiftly finish taking over Ukraine. Eventually, the attackers were repelled and Ukrainian forces in 2022 managed to retrieve control of much of the territory occupied by Russians. However, in 2023, the war in Ukraine had turned into a stalemate, with little or no territorial gains on either side, till the present day. With the focus of the international community set on the conflict in Gaza and with the West tired of delivering costly military assistance to Ukraine, there is a looming question of whether Ukraine will be capable of liberating its territories currently controlled by the Russians. The author also analyses the positions of the US, the EU and China during the Russian campaign in Ukraine that have been going on for more than two years.
