The Institute for Development and International Relations in Zagreb and Zagreb Office of the Hanns Seidel Foundation have launched the project “Global Political / Security Relations and Issues” The project includes a series of roundtables that should contribute to the existing debate about specific themes related to the global, political and security challenges.

At the round table, that will be held on 28th June 2016 in the Hotel Šipan, named “Relations Between the Leading Actors of International Relations”, the representatives of the academia, state administration, non-governmental sector, international organisations, diplomatic community and media will have a debate about the general overview of relations between main political global actors, with the accent on the transatlantic relations and its future trends and challenges.

Today’s global political map is characterized by the actions of the main global actors – EU, USA, Russia, China, India. Despite the fact that USA still represents the main global power, rise and twist of the Russian foreign policy has disrupted its unipolar “harmony”. Security threats and migration issues brought back global geostrategic focus to the EU, bearing also with internal crises. While the dynamic of contemporary IR has direct effect on the nature of transatlantic partnership, exposing all difficulties and vulnerabilities, the cooperation in forthcoming period obviously has no alternative.
