The Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO), Zagreb and the Robert Schuman Foundation from Paris are organizing a round table on “Economic recovery and political cohesion for the future of the EU”. The round table will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 in Novinarski dom, Perkovčeva 2, Zagreb.

The aim of this event is to stimulate a debate that will contribute to defining European visions and enrich political debates during the French Presidency of the Council of the EU and the Conference on the Future of Europe.

The first half of 2022 should provide an opportunity to analyse the results of measures introduced at European level in response to the crisis associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. Joint efforts to implement the European Recovery Plan have been unprecedented and have protected and supported Member States’ economies. However, no economic measure can immediately create political cohesion. In the context of the forthcoming French Presidency of the Council of the EU and the Conference on the Future of Europe, the question arises as to how the Union can use the economic recovery as a means of strengthening a sense of belonging to the EU? How can the Union enhance its democratic legitimacy and increase citizens’ support? and what are the Croatian and French views on the economic recovery of the Union and on the European identity?

You can follow the round table live or online.

Please announce your participation by registering via the following link no later than Tuesday, November 9th.
