Project duration: 04/2010 – 6/2012

Project partners: French Embassy in Croatia in cooperation with the Delegation of the EU in RC and the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO)

Project leaders at IRMO: Hrvoje Butković, PhD and  Krševan Antun Dujmović, M.A.

The project includes the organization of a cycle of high ranking public lectures focusing on selected EU integration topics. Each event hosts one prominent French public figure as a key speaker (expert in certain area, practitioner, university professor etc.) who expresses his/her views on selected topic related to the European integration process. The introductory presentation lasting 30-40 minutes is targeted at provoking a public debate on selected topic. The primary aim of the proposed events is to explain what are the main issues and challenges in selected areas and to inform the citizens on what they could expect from the EU membership. The events encourage participants to debate their own views about EU integration. They also motivate citizens to think not just of the costs and benefits of membership but also about the effects of non-membership. Each event also feature a commentator who shortly outlines the most important aspects of a given theme therefore providing an introduction to the featured presentation. Following each presentation, moderators work on initiating and moderating constructive debates where the expressed views of the French speakers are confronted with standpoints of Croatian experts and citizens.
