SINCERE is a 4-year project funded by the EC Horizon 2020 program. The project leader is the European Forest Institute from Finland, in collaboration with 22 partners from 9 countries, with the aim of devising innovative policies for evaluating forest ecosystem services. By changing the partnership agreement, IRMO took over the research section of the project from the partner Nature Park Medvednica. The methodology and evaluation of the health and recreational function of the forests of Medvednica Nature Park will be prepared and an innovative mechanism for its financial evaluation proposed. The project will make use of economic models to evaluate the generally useful functions of forests and propose new models of forest management, taking into account their economic and social role in local and regional development. The project will create a database of innovative mechanisms (IM) for the financial evaluation of these forest functions as a framework for new sustainable environmental policies.
