Istraživači Odjela za kulturu i komunikacije dr.sc. Paško Bilić i dr. sc. Jaka Primorac, u suradnji s dr. sc. Bjarki Valtýssonom (Sveučilište u Kopenhagenu) urednici su knjige ‘Technologies of Labour and the Politics of Contradiction’ koja je objavljena u izdavačkoj kući Palgrave Macmillan kao dio serije ‘Dynamics of Virtual Work’.
Knjiga sadrži petnaest poglavlja koja proučavaju teme na razmeđu tehnologije, rada i politike, a koje uključuju pitanja automatizacije, utjecaja internetskih platformi, promjena digitalnih praksi, razvoja kreativnih industrija, komunikacijske industrije, ljudsku interakciju, demokratsku participaciju i regulaciju. Promatraju se proturječnosti koje nastaju uslijed digitalizacije radnih aktivnosti a koje izazivaju različite oblike previranja, trenja i višeznačnosti. Tri su glavne okosnice koje se protežu kroz različita poglavlja objavljena u knjizi. Prvo, mnogi autori i autorice ističu da se rad i ekonomska valorizacija odvijaju izvan tradicionalnog koncepta radnog prostora i vremena. Drugo, digitalne tehnologije nisu fiksni dio kapitala – one su promjenjive i prilagodljive. Treće, političke tenzije u digitaliziranim radnim uvjetima često nastaju izvan tradicionalnih organizacija zaštite radničkih prava.
Knjiga je namijenjena istraživačima i studentima u području sociologije rada, medijskih istraživanja, kulturnih studija, rodnih studija, istraživanja znanosti i tehnologije i kritičke teorije. Također može biti korisnicima sindikalistima i stvarateljima javnih politika.
